The Jardine Clan Society was founded by Colonel Sir William Jardine of Applegirth, 11th Baronet., O.B.E., T.D., D.L., 22nd Hereditary Cheif of Clan Jardine on 12th Septmeber, 1982 at Denbie, Lockerbie, Dumfrieshire, Scotland, witnessed by the Lord Lyon King of Arms. The New Zealand Branch was founded in 1985 by Mr Dickson Glendenning Jardine of Queenstown, New Zealand.
The objectives of the Society:-
a) The promotion of a spirit of kin and fellowship within the Clan throughout the world.
b) The collection and preservation of the history and traditions of the Clan
c) To compile and maintain a roll of Clan members and to assist as far as possible the research and correlation of Clan Genealogies.
Membership of the Society will be limited to:-
a) Those with the Surname of Jardine.
b) Those with the Surnames of those Septs accepted by the Lord Lyon King of Arms and agreed at the A.G.M of the Society held at Denbie on 12th Septmeber, 1982.
These Septs are:-
Jardee, Jardin, De Jardin, Jarding, Jardyn, Jardyne, Jarden, Jerdone, Jurden, Garner, Garden, Gardener, Gardin, Gardino, Gardyne, Gardinus, Gerden, Gardain.
c) Those with connections with the above by blood or marriage.
Application for Membership
a) Applications should be made via e-mail or post to The Jardine Clan Society Branch to which membership is sought.
Types of Membership.
a) Membership can be to the Society or the Branch or both.
b) Membership may be Annual or Life; the rate of subscription will be published in the Newsletter.
c) Honorary Membership will be granted by a majority of votes at the Annual General Meeting, or by the Chief in exceptional cases.
